After seven weeks away, Greg and I returned to Guatemala this week. It was an almost perfect return trip-luggage weight within the restrictions, flights early, good meals at the airports and even an upgrade at the hotel in Guatemala City when we arrived late Tuesday night!
Unfortunately, our drive back to Tecpán did not go as well. On route we were in a car accident which left us pretty shaken up and in some pain. The good news is that we are still here and we are doing well. We have taken the last few days to recover and heal. We are fortunate to have a wonderful local practitioner who does great body work and we have both had treatments.
It was a full and exhausting time in Canada/USA. In total, we drove close to 5000 kilometres, slept in 17 different beds and saw countless number of friends, families and Somos supporters! The Fifth Annual Benefit Fiesta took place on October 12th and it was another wonderful event with so many great people showing up to help make it a success!
The weekend prior to our departure, we went away to Whistler on a Board Retreat. It was great to meet, dream and plan with the team before having to say goodbye again. What an awesome team we have!
Antolin and crew were excited and nervous to welcome us back. They awaited our approval of the work they had accomplished in our absence. Of course, we were thrilled! They are AMAZING!!
As you can imagine, Greg and I have lots of to-do’s on the lists now that we are back. We will be sure to catch you up and keep you in the loop in the exciting days and weeks to come!
