The Project Somos Experience.
A volunteer’s perspective

Before I went to volunteer,
I expected to find poverty and sorrow and maybe a bit of resentment
Being aware that I am part of a privileged minority

But when we arrived on the land, the finca
We became part of an idea filled with compassion and idealist
So we became compassionate and idealistic

There is work to be done. Always
So we worked our best. Always

There was a goal to achieve
So we achieved it: Our small goal of finishing the gathering place
And so will Project Somos: building a future – a limitless goal

There were smiles that reached into my heart
So my heart smiles back

There are changes that are necessary
Some affected me deeply
And I changed
after I volunteered
