The enthusiastic bidding at our Grand Fiesta 2013

As you’ve heard, our Grand Fiesta in September was a huge success. One of the most exciting parts of the evening was our “Fund a Need” portion of the evening.

Our amazing auctioneer, Elias funding our needs!

Our amazing auctioneer, Elias Arjan auctioned off the various needs of the Village at this time. These items included:

-solar hot water systems

-patios for the community hall

-projector and sound system for the community hall

-garden and landscaping

-fund a worker for a month

-purchase a sewing machine

-connection to the grid

Absolutely every item was bid upon with outrageous excitement and the buzz in the air was palpable!

And upon our return, here’s what has happened in the Village since this and because of this auction!

-three hot water panels have been installed-two for the community hall and one for the staff housing

-the projector and DVD player has been purchased (along with a stack of great kids DVDs that will be shown on a regular basis for the families of Chivarabal)

-24 months of one worker’s salaries was sponsored!

-a sewing machine was purchased and set up in the Tecpan house and Nico and Dora have been attending two all day classes/week of sewing classes at a local women’s NGO (they will attend 12 in total to start)

Great write up about our incredible fundraiser Heather!

I can attest to the fact that the excitement at the fundraiser was absolutely fabulous. People loved knowing what their money could sponsor, and now seeing how far we’ve come will surely help our ‘new friends’ spread the word of our good deeds in Guatemala.

    Cheers,
