JOIN OUR SUMMER MATCH CAMPAIGN
Two generous donors have pledged $25,000 in match funding for our Summer Match Campaign through July 31, 2025. This means that every dollar we raise will be DOUBLED, going twice as far to create a brighter, more hopeful future for young indigenous children in Guatemala.

$55 can provide nourishing meals for a young woman like Kimberly.
Girls are often served last at home, with whatever is left. With your gift, she can receive hot lunches and hearty snacks grown on our organic farm, helping her focus, grow, and thrive.
$75 can cover basic medical care for a child like Jeremias at our community clinic.
Ana, our nurse, is available to help with everything from stomach aches to infections. Your gift supports her care and keeps children strong, healthy, and able to keep learning.
$140 can support a middle school student like Abi with tutoring, mentorship, and digital access.
The leap to secondary school is difficult in rural areas. Your gift ensures a teen receives personal support, access to tech, and guidance through this crucial transition.
$200 can support our youth technology program.
Technology is a gateway to opportunity, but many rural students are excluded. Your gift provides lessons, computers, and skills that help young people imagine new futures.
$275 can support ten children to learn to read.
Many of our elementary students are still learning to read in 4th or 5th grade. Your donation gives them the one-on-one literacy instruction and books they need to catch up, and thrive.
$325 can support holistic elementary education for a child.
Reading, writing, English, gardening, and emotional learning all come together to build confidence and skills. Your gift helps one child experience learning that’s truly life-changing.
$350 can fund English instruction for an entire class.
English is a powerful tool in Guatemala’s growing digital and tourism economies. Your donation ensures a full class receives engaging, interactive lessons that open real doors.
$600 can provide preschool education for a group of our youngest learners.
Our preschoolers speak Kaqchikel at home and are learning Spanish for the first time. Your gift supports bilingual, play-based education that prepares them to thrive in school and beyond.
$800 can fund the salary of a farm worker like Pedro.
Pedro helps grow fresh food for the children and trains local families in sustainable farming. Your donation supports local employment, food security, and hands-on agricultural learning.
$1000 can sponsor a community-wide celebration like our annual Family Day or a day out.
Celebration matters. With your gift, we can host a joyful day filled with food, games, music, and family connection, building pride, unity, and memories for every child and caregiver who walks through our gates.
“At Project Somos, the staff are with you all the way, they never turn their back on you.”
Kimberly lives in a home of eleven with her parents, siblings, and extended family. Her father works in Canada for months at a time, the only legal job available to many men in this region. Life at home is shaped by the limitations of poverty.
She first joined Project Somos as a young child, learning to read, create, and dream with us. When she continued her studies to middle school, she quickly gave up after bullying and financial restraints left her no choice – she was never encouraged to continue by her family. Instead, she helped at home, backstrap weaving with her mother and sewing in the family’s sweater business. She earned nothing, but she loved being part of something that connected her to her family.
Kimberly has always loved learning. So in 2024, when she heard about our cook training course, she grabbed the opportunity. Though she wasn’t passionate about cooking, she was passionate about growing. She learned to use professional kitchen tools, cook balanced meals, and even introduced healthier eating habits to her family.
By the end of the course, something had shifted, and Kimberly spoke of her dream to become a nurse. Her quiet determination stayed with us and in 2025, we launched a middle school program for her and two other girls, combining online learning with in-person tutoring in English, Spanish, maths, and technology.
Now in her first year, Kimberly is thriving. She navigates online classes, speaks more confidently, studies Spanish grammar, and is learning English and Quiché, her third and fourth languages. Her confidence grows daily, along with her vision for the future.
If you ever visit us, we invite you to sit with Kimberly and witness the quiet strength that inspires everyone around her. For her, this journey is about more than learning skills, it’s about reclaiming lost confidence, daring to dream beyond limitations, and surrounding herself with people who believe in her. She’s found purpose, hope, and a community that’s helping her rediscover what’s possible.
