On June 25, teachers are celebrated in Guatemala. At Proyecto Somos, we are incredibly proud of our teachers and love to celebrate them at any moment. They carry out one of the most beautiful, important, and human roles in life.
Being a teacher at Project Somos means:
– Nurturing Healthy Habits: Guiding children to try new foods, persisting patiently until they enjoy eating green vegetables and even asking for seconds and thirds.
– Embracing Exploration: Getting covered in dirt, paint, glue, and other messy materials, all for the love of the children and their learning experiences.
– Persevering with Patience: Finding innovative ways to teach reading and writing to children who have been rejected by other teacher, with patience and love.
– Giving Your All: Ending long days tired but deeply satisfied, knowing you gave 110% and seeing the joy in the children’s smiles.
– Healing with Compassion: Mending both physical wounds with a magical kiss and emotional wounds with a loving hug, providing comfort and understanding.
On Teacher’s Day this year, we recognized their extraordinary work. They have learned to love and understand different hearts, each with its own needs, filling them with respect, without labels, punishment, or violence.
To our teachers, thank you for being the complement the children need, and for giving life and heart to Project Somos. Remember, you are leaving a lasting mark. You are planting seeds for future generations, seeds that will bear fruit even if you might not see it you will always remain in the children’s hearts.
We are incredibly proud of you and your outstanding work. The pride you take in working with these children and the satisfaction you feel from their achievements are truly inspiring. Your service, filled with words and actions for life, is an invaluable act of love.
