My name is Tita and my children and I have been part of Project Somos for seven years now and we live onsite.
My experience in the Project has been something that fills my heart. The work we do here helping people and visiting them in their houses is an opportunity to see the reality of where they live. It is overwhelming.
It is one thing when we see the children at the Project. It is another very different thing when we see the conditions where they live.
The other day, Heather and I visited families and we delivered some toys, shoes, clothing to a family of six children and their parents. In that room they only had two beds, an old wardrobe, and the place where they put the fire to cook. They did not have tables, chairs, or shelves. It was overwhelming to see where they live.
We are now preparing for Christmas, with special activities for the children, baking cookies, hosting an outdoor pizza party and delivering presents. The children and their families are happy because their families cannot afford to have a Christmas tree, decorations, special food, or any presents.
We are happy to do what we do here! It fills our hearts because we know how they live.
This week we are preparing to deliver presents to about 125 children! We are giving them stuffed animals, clothing like dresses for the girls and jeans for the boys and shoes! And many of those presents are from the volunteers who have come here and our donors who have generously donated.
So, thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
Sincerely,
Tita Ajcet
