Empowering Yesica: Transforming Lives Through Our Girls Empowerment Club
In a small, quiet corner of our community, lives Yesica, a very small and silent little girl. She has learned to reduce herself down and hide during conflicts at home, making herself nearly invisible to avoid the chaos around her. Yesica speaks very few words, but the words she knows best are ‘chupar’ (to drink alcohol), ‘cerveza’ (beer), and ‘chingar’ (a vulgar way of saying someone is driving you mad). These are the words she regularly hears at home, and although she is young, she has learned to stay silent and hide when she hears them.
Our Girls Empowerment Club is the perfect program to support Yesica. Investing in girls transforms lives and communities.
Yesica may be young, but Seño Rosario, our girls’ club leader, is trained to work with girls of all ages. Seño Rosario builds a relationship with each individual girl, showing them that she can be trusted, and that she, and the Project, are safe spaces where the girls can explore who they are without fear or questioning. Over time, the girls start to find their voice. They start to dream. They start to feel valued. They begin to feel empowered. And we are with them at every stage of their journey.
Today, you can make a difference in Yesica’s life and the lives of many other girls by supporting our Summer Giving Campaign. Your contribution can help them feel safe, find their voice, explore who they are, and change their future and the future of their community. Thank you for being a part of their journey towards a brighter, empowered future.
You can help change the lives of children like Yesica by supporting our Summer Giving Campaign – your contribution will make a profound difference.
Your help is greatly appreciated today.
Love Sarah
