Feeding Families in Need

During the COVID-19 crisis, Project Somos has pivoted to focus on reaching children and families in need by providing food through the Somos Food Bank program. With your support, we will have fed 10,000 people in 2020. The infographic below shows some of the impact we have been able to make so far through the Food Bank.

In January 2021, we re-launched the Food Bank with a new approach. Families in need come volunteer at the Project, helping with food prep, cleaning, farm work, etc.; they then leave with a bag full of food we grow here at the Project. This continues and proves to be a win-win for all!

  • With the current pandemic lockdown, families who were already living in extreme poverty now have no access to employment, public transportation, food, or social safety nets.
  • In the last quarter, we have reached 10,000 people with our food bank.
